HOW TO FISH:
The Frantic Fred is a Topwater lure that is most effective in clearer water where sight feeding gamefish are the norm. This lure is tremendously versatile and can be fished in a number of ways.
After casting let the lure sit motionless for at least 10 seconds or more. Many strikes will occur at this time. From this point on, a number of retrieves can be employed. A simple twitch of the rod tip followed up by another pause is a good bet. The more slack line you use between the lure and rod tip, the lure is apt to dance laterally from side to side as you employ this twitch. You can also do a classic“walk da dawg” retrieve with the Frantic Fred by initiating a rhythmic twitching of the rod tip while you retrieve line with your reel, this will make the Frantic Fred dance from side to side with virtually no effort.
A short burst from the reel in a rhythmic manner will also make the Frantic Fred dart from side to side as well. Finally, a simple straight retrieve is sure to trigger action.
