Grubby Joes

Grubby Joe 8-Inch
528-91313 Blaze Orange

HOW TO FISH:
The Grubby Joe™ is an incredibly effective life-like lure for both fresh and saltwater big gamefish. It is best fished on a heavy action baitcasting outfit with non-stretch super braid style lines in the 40 to 85 pound test range.

For shallow water fish, simply cast the Grubby Joe™ out and retrieve it steady - adjusting your retrieve speed to keep it up off the bottom or over top weed cover and/or bottom debris. Retrieve the lure super fast and it will nearly break the surface - creating a bulge that can be deadly in warm water. Retrieve it slower for sluggish fish in colder waters or cold front fish hugging tighter to cover.

For deep water fish, let the Grubby Joe™ sink all the way to the bottom (after the cast) on a tight line. Watch for strikes to occur during this drop. After the line goes slack, work the Grubby Joe™ back towards the boat with a retrieve-pause-retrieve. This is best done by simply gunning yoyr reel quickly for 3 to 5 turns followed by an abrupt pause - allowing the lure to descend back to the bottom. This retrieve is deadly on clear water for any deep water big gamefish. Be prepared for the vast majority of strikes to occur on the pause. Quick hook sets are not critical here since the soft plastic nature of the lure convinces the fish that it has bitten into the real thing! However, once you know you do have a fish on, set the hook hard!
