HOW TO FISH THE MUSKY FLOAT:
For best results, set the float so it suspends the sucker just barely above the intended cover (weeds, brush, rocks, etc.) The closer you allow the sucker to struggle near cover, the better your chances of triggering a reluctant musky.
Whenever setting the float at depths greater than your rod length (6 feet or more), it's a good idea to detach the float before attempting to land the fish. This enables you to draw in more line and bring the fish into a closer landing range.
Joe Bucher's Musky Sucker Float can also be used as a "strike indicator" and "rig separator" for deep. clean bottom sets. To accomplish this, simply let out an ample amount of line until you are certain the sucker is on the bottom. Then attach the float and let out some more line. This will help you keep multiple sucker rigs separated and provide you with an easy target to follow after the strike. Before setting the hook, simply remove the float.
RIGGING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MUSKY QUICK SET RIGS
Lightly insert (1) one hook of the first trebel into the sucker somewhere between the dorsal fin and tail area. Then insert (1) one hook of the middle trebel into the sucker just in front of the dorsal fin. Finally, attach the front single hook barely through the upper lip. Draw up the wire leader until snug.
When a musky strikes, get as close to the fish as possible, pick up all the slack and set the hook.
